Before becoming a Playmate, Gangel appeared on the October 1979 issue of Playboy alongside Burt Reynolds, who was only the second man (after Peter Sellers) to appear on the cover of the magazine. As quoted in The Playmate Book, Gangel commented on her photo shoot with Reynolds that, “I didn’t think Burt was my type, until I met him.”

Sandy had had a brief stint as a Bunny at the Playboy Resort in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin before she joined the Playboy family full-blast as a model. She appeared on four covers of the Japanese edition in one year before she became a Playmate. According to The Playmate Book, Sandy’s last whereabouts were in New England.

Of French and Cherokee descent, Henriette had been a orthodontist’s assistant before she began modeling. She posed for Playboy again for the April 1982 issue after she had established a successful modeling career in France.

In 1980, she posed for Helmut Newton’s “Big Nudes” series. Her portrait “Big Nude III” became the poster for the first exhibition of the series at Galerie Daniel Templon, Paris in 1981. It has since become one of the most iconic photographs of Newton. A print of “Big Nude III” numbered ‘2′ was sold at an auction at Christie’s in November 2005 for £176,000 ($311,344).^[2]

Glazowski was discovered by Playboy when she submitted photographs to the magazine’s 25th Anniversary Great Playmate Hunt. She was one of the 14 women who eventually became centerfolds for the magazine through that contest. She also had a small part in the film The Happy Hooker Goes Hollywood (1980).^{[citation needed]}

Glazowski was very religious at the time of her centerfold and expressed such in the article that ran alongside her photos.^{[citation needed]} A devout Catholic, she was especially fond of her fellow countryman, Pope John Paul II. She was also a star basketball player in high school.^{[citation needed]}

Her Playmate pictorial was not the first time Martha had posed for Playboy. She had appeared previously in the October 1978 “Girls of the Pac-10″ layout as a student at Washington State University. Between her Playboy gigs, she had left school and became a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines. Later on she took on modeling full-time, working for the Elite and Wilhelmina agencies.

Ray was born in St. Louis, Missouri. She spent part of her childhood in Japan, where her stepfather was serving with the U.S. Air Force. She modeled for Playboy and was the Playmate of the Month for the June 1980 issue. Her centerfold was photographed by Richard Fegley.

Ray complained in the past about difficulties collecting royalties from her participation in “Thriller”. At first, Ray blamed Michael Jackson, but then apologized to him in 1997.^{[citation needed]} However, Ray eventually sued Jackson on May 6, 2009 in a dispute to obtain uncollected royalties. Jackson died less than two months later on June 25 at age 50.^[1]

Teri was an in-demand fashion model before and after her Playmate appearance (hence the pictorial’s title, “Going in Style”), and also forged an acting career that included a few movies but focused on theater work in the Los Angeles area. She also became a martial arts instructor and personal trainer.

Cooke attended the University of Arizona, where she studied real estate and finance (and posed for Playboy’s October 1978 “Girls of the Pac 10″ pictorial). Soon after she moved to Hawaii, where she obtained her real-estate license. She also was a skilled catamaran racer.

Eventually Cooke moved to Florida and owned a travel company. She has three children.

The daughter of a US Army-employed parent, Lisa moved from place to place during her childhood, eventually settling in the San Francisco area. She graduated early from high school and studies fashion retailing at the College of Marin. After graduating with her degree and drifting from job to job, Lisa landed at Playboy’s modeling agency, where she was chosen to be a Playmate.

She appeared in 1984’s Revenge of the Nerds as Suzy, a sorority girl, and in 1981’s History of the World: Part I as a Vestal Virgin.

After her Playmate duties and an acting career, she settled in an avocado ranch outside of Los Angeles, where she and her husband have raised nine children, including her three stepchilden. The family has a winery, and the ranch has been the host of several TV shows, including Dynasty and a season of The Biggest Loser.

Mardi was adopted by American parents and was raised in California. When she was older, she moved to Arizona and, among other things, worked on a ranch that raised Arabian horses. She is currently living and working as a school counselor in the Phoenix, Arizona area.

Her first name means Tuesday in French language.
